'Forest Light' 12x9 pastelHere is my first completed homework assignment for the holiday break. I painted this scene on black paper. It was a piece of Unison sanded paper that really seemed to eat up the pastels. Other than that I liked it. Next time I will do an underpainting so I won't need as much pastel.
I love the colors in the trunks. Is this your first painting on black paper? I tried one a couple of weeks ago and was pleased with the mood and the brightness of the colors. You have achieved that with this painting.

Yes, I love the tree trucks, too. This scene reminds me of the trees behind my house. I really should go there with my easel. Thanks for the inspiration.
