My son Corey just got home from hiking in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park....in the snow! He took a lot of snow photos and I am thrilled. I need to put them on my computer but I asked him to choose 3 random photos and I would paint a snow study from one of them. I love painting the moodiness of winter! This one was done on Uart paper with a nupastel and alcohol wash underpainting.
Excellent....
ReplyDeleteI'm now preparing a subject like that for my students, in oil.
I followed Jo's link to your blog and can easily see why she linked to you. Your work is just beautiful and this one of the snow just made me sigh!
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous! So loose with only the essentials necessary to describe the cold and snow.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mariela. That sounds like fun!
ReplyDeleteJoan, I'm glad you stopped by. I appreciate your kind words!
ReplyDeleteThanks Donna! That is what I was trying to do! I appreciate your comment!
ReplyDeleteFantastic painting! I used to do a little oil painting (long time ago). Now I just ride my motorcycle in the Great Smoky Mountains and enjoy the scenery.
ReplyDeleteThis is what Germany looks like right now....we are having one heck of a winter!!! I really like this piece.
