I am experimenting with winter scenes. This one is on Wallis Belgium mist paper. I blocked in all the darks first then some blues under the snow in shadow. I then used fixative to lock in the darker colors and give an icy texture to the snow. I used pale yellow and peach for the sunlit snow. I didn't use white at all. Trying to capture the feeling of cold which works for me on this cold day in Georgia!
I love these last 2 winter paintings!

Karen,
ReplyDeletelove the way this painting captures the cold wintry feel of snow along the creek bank! The abstract composition makes it more than a winner!
