Forsythia in Bloom
'Forsythia in Bloom' 8x10 pastel
I don't have any forsythia growing in my yard but if I did it would be the wild and free kind. I don't care for the bushes that are trimmed into neat little shrubs. They just don't seem to be as happy as their wild neighbors!
This is good. If it was up to me, I wouldn't mow my own lawn. But we have to listen to the controlling little neighborhood governments called the "Home Owners Association."
We have been slowly turning our whole front yard into a wildflower meadow, sort of a "whatever comes up and survives, good for it" thing where we throw wildflower seeds onto the lawn every spring, and never mow or weed or anything. So far no trouble from the neighbors, but you never know.
I also wanted to add that we never prune (probably more out of laziness). But our one forsythia bush (almost tree now) has stopped blooming pretty much. Apparently this is because it is old and didn't get pruned much. They say younger ones bloom more.

Thanks Brent. When I retire to the mountains my front yard will be a meadow!
