(top) 'Blue Jewels' 5x7 monotype with pastel
My printing supplies arrived from Blicks and I had fun playing with monotypes. First I organized my paper. I ordered several kinds to try them out. I also had to cut the paper into smaller pieces. Finally I got to try a print. I used relief ink on a glass plate and drew the nest with various tools. The big nest on the left is the first print I pulled. I was able to get two more smaller ghost prints which I then added pastel once the print was dry. For the last 8x10 print I added more ink including blue and gold inks and made another print. This is so much fun! What surprised me is that I really liked how the pastel went down on the smooth Arches 88 paper!

These are wonderful! I love printmaking. The process is such fun. I really like the way that you combined the color with the black/white. Can't wait to see more!
Thanks Elaine. I think I am hooked. I have so many ideas but not enough time in the day to try them all!
