Playing with Watercolor Underpaintings

'Discovery Hill' 9x12 pastel
What a fun day playing with pastels and watercolor. I love doing watercolor underpaintings and the more I do the better I like them. Just like anything, with practice I am getting familiar with the watercolors and what they can do. Of course....the things that just happen without my planning them are what keeps it fun and exciting. This is Uart that has been drymounted to ragboard.

  1. Gorgeous results and a very interesting method of working. Reminds me of a student piece I did, with cheap gouache as an underpainting, it also gave the paper a nice tooth.
