Painting a Wildflower

Every once in awhile I feel like painting something that requires a bit more precision than my usual landscapes. I was going through the photos I took on my recent trips to the mountains and this Pink Lady's Slipper flower caught my eye. I like taking my time and really looking closely at this flower. In the photo you can see my painting's first layer along with the photo reference on the upper left and the quick study I painted to try out background colors. I am painting this on LaCarte paper. It is the 2nd time I've used it and I really like it for subjects like this flower. Ok, I am going back to work. stay tuned!
