Back to Basics Weekly Pastel Classes
If you are looking for a fun and supportive class focused on the basics of painting then consider weekly pastel class. Classes run in four week sessions and we will work on a new painting concept and pastel technique during each session. Some of the topics we will work on this Fall are Skies and Clouds, Discovering a Series, Painting in the style of several contemporary Master Pastelists and in December we will study the painting of Winter Landscapes.
I offer the same class Wednesday morning 10:00 - 12:00 and Wednesday evening 7:00 - 9:00.
I will also offer the same class on Tuesday mornings 9:30-12:30 at The Art School in Sandy Springs.

SUMMER ART CLASSES
Classes in oil and pastel with Karen Margulis
Summer is a time to relax and have fun. Consider making art a part or your summer fun. Keep your work fresh and don’t lose any ground that you have made during the year by adding a class to your summer plans. I am offering a few classes and options to help you keep painting this summer.
Abstracting the Landscape with Pastel : July 10 either 10-1 or 6:30-9:30 in my Marietta studio. fee: $35
In this 3 hour pastel class I will be showing you a great technique for creating an abstracted landscape painting. It has been said that every good painting begins with a strong abstract so being able to see and create an abstract can help us become even better representational painters. It will also help you loosen up your work if that is something you’d like to do. best of all it will be a fun class without any pressure...just having fun with pastels.
Oil Painting for Pastel People mini workshop: July 17, 1-5 in my Marietta Studio. Fee : $50
In this 4 hour mini workshop I will introduce you to the technique I use to paint with oils. It is a perfect introduction for pastel artists since I approach oils much in the same way I paint with pastels. You will complete a painting alla prima (all in one sitting) and have a chance to learn about mixing colors with a limited palette, working with both brush and palette knife. There is not a lot you need with a limited palette which makes it even better!
Pastel and Water: Expand your Pastel Techniques: Wednesday August 7 either 10-1 or 6:30-9:30 in my Marietta studio. Fee $35
In this 3 hour pastel class we will explore the techniques of Bill Creevy in using water with pastels. Have fun painting and using some new ways of working with pastels. More information on the class to come.
PRIVATE SESSIONS: I am offering private sessions in July and August. My times are very flexible so just let me know what works for you. I am offering a 3 hour session for $60 or a 2 hour session for $45.
