Dragonfly Pastel Painting....sold

'Dragonfly Magic' 7x5 pastel
I painted two new dragonfly paintings last week. They are both 5x7's. I tried a new technique on the wings to make them appear lacy. I used an irridescent pastel and drew lines in the pastel with a push pin. It was like scratch art! I'll have to think of other ways to use this same techniques since it was so much fun.

Karen, this painting of the Dragonfly is breathtaking! It's absolutely gorgeous!! I enlarged the photo to get a better look at the wings, and boy, does it ever sparkle!!

Dragonflies are common over my front yard in season, as well as at our nearby lake, so I know what dragonflies should look like. The wings of this dragonfly are spectacular, so I am very happy that you are having fun with your new technique! It makes the wings look so beautifully realistic!
