'Lowcountry Autumn' 8x10 pastel
Last November I spent a week with my friends visiting Edisto and Kiawah Islands in South Carolina. We spent part of the time exploring and part of the time attending a workshop with Stan Sperlak. It was a fantastic week despite the weather. I never get tired of painting the marshes and I have some wonderful reference photos that will continue to inspire me. This was the view from our cabin on Edisto Island. It was gray most of the time but when the sun did peek through the clouds the colors in the marsh grasses were just beautiful!

I grew up on Edisto, live there still. You captured the fall color of the marsh which is my favorite time of year. Come back soon.
This is gorgeous! I especially love the colors reflecting in the water and the grasses/ water plants! Thank you!
Beautiful textures and juicy colour in the grasses. Really lovely.
Thank you all for commenting. I appreciate hearing from you. And I am glad to know I accurately captured the colors of the marsh! I will be back!
