'Summer Sky' 8x10 pastelI had the pleasure of having a new student this week and we worked on painting the sky and clouds. I love to paint clouds so it was a lot of fun to share some ideas for painting them. This is the demo painting I did for her. She then worked on several small cloud studies before we ran out of time. She is primarily a plein air painter so I hope my tips will help her when she gets outside this Spring!

Beautiful clouds Karen! i am somewhat cloud challenged. i need to do many studies of them! This painting as a whole is really beautiful. i love it!

Thanks Sara! That's what I do....just to a bunch of small cloud studies. The more you do the easier it will become!
