Cape May is for the Birds day 2

Today was for the birds!  We drove all over Cape May County looking for birds and we found plenty! I ended the day with my 5x7 daily painting. I decided to paint at the Wetlands Institute because it he marsh there is beautiful and there is a picnic table!  I painted one of the egrets in the marsh. He was moving but I studied them all day do I relied on my memory some.
We saw a lot if birds since it is migration time. The serious birders were out in force! The dragonflies are also migrating and we saw swarms of them but the wind kept them from landing!
Here are some shots of the day. It was another wonderful day!

I really like this one, and feel that the texture is strong. (I like so many of your paintings, and never comment... I enjoy your work!)

This is so beautiful!

Thank you for affirming what I'm trying to study in nature and animal art. I have to learn to retain anatomy and poses from a long period of watching and then construct the pose, do the bird or animal from memory - both train my memory and train my hand to it.

This is working well for cats. Other animals I mentally compare their proportion to cats. I've got pigeon studies going to work on bird anatomy.
