It all began with animals. When I decided to paint 10 years ago it was because I wanted to paint pet portraits. I had dabbled in high school but wanted to really learn how to paint. Once I discovered pastels and started to paint landscapes I moved away from animals. I still enjoy painting the occasional cat, dog or bird!
My own menagerie of cats is my favorite subject but I do enjoy painting other animals if the photo speaks to me. I have a different process and preference of materials for painting animals. I will be sharing more about this process soon since my weekly pastel class will be painting animals next week!
