'Amongst the Ferns' 5x7 pastelThe House Finch 's nest sites are varied. They use twigs, grasses and debris placed in tree cavities, birdboxes, ledges. They are fond of building their nests in hanging baskets like the one found in this hanging fern. They typically lay 4-5 eggs which are pale bluish green sparingly spotted with black. I am planning a House Finch painting to go along with this nest.
