'Distant Mountains'. 5x7. Pastel
It only took us 10 1/2 hours to make a 4 hour drive and we enjoyed every minute! That's the way we like to travel...no particular place to stop. We are just stop where the spirit moves us. And in New Mexico we have to make many stops. We took a nice drive out of Santa Rosa along the Pecos River and got some nice photos but my favorite stop was the rest area off I-40. Jayne found a nesting bird to photograph and I found a covered picnic table with a view of the Sandia mountains in the distance. I had to paint!
I took out my little pastel set up and did a quick study of the view. My set up was perfect. Nice and compact and easy to take out and put away. I am going to have fun with it.
While I painted a raven visited me. What could be better? It's great to be in New Mexico!

Karen, it's fun to follow your road trip to Albuquerque! We're taking the easy but less fun way ... flying there on Thursday. Be prepared to be ambushed by me and my 2 pastel buddies ... we are such fans of your work and your blog!
Thanks for blogging from the road and sharing your great photos. Safe travels!

Looks great! I am not far from there, I live near ABQ and once you get a little out of town the views are stunning. Can't wait to see the rest of your trip. Awesome Raven picture!
You will have a great time. Love your blog.
