How I got started.....

'Jazzpurr and his Portrait'
It was a year ago that I decided I wanted to get back into art. I came across a book on doing realistic colored pencil pet portraits and I thought they looked like fun. Well it was fun...but a little too tedious for me. That's my first effort...my cat Jazzpurr. After that I decided to take a watercolor class. It was fun to go to class with others interested in art but watercolors weren't for me. Then I took a one day pastel workshop. I dragged out an old set of Grumbacher pastels which I had in highschool and went to the class. Well that's all it took! I fell in love with pastels. I got online and was lucky enough to find my wonderful teacher, Marsha Savage. I started to accumulate pastels (an addiction) and began class last January. So Thank you Jazz for getting me started!
