New Pastels!

I got a new set of Terry Ludwig pastels this week and couldn't wait to try them out! They are the Northeast/MidAtlantic Collection chosen by pastel artist Stan Sperlak. He paints a lot of beach and marsh scenes so I knew I would have to have this set! He also put together a set of 14 Terry Ludwig purples which is perfect for me!! Yesterday I painted two paintings using only this set to see how the colors worked for me. I will post the results next.

hmmm...I have some spare cash for the first time in a while and was thinking about this set, Stan Sperlak is a local artist, i love his work but have never taken a workshop...(yet)
Looks like you have had these for a while, do you still like them, have they stood the test of time and become something you reach for regularly? How would you compare the softness of these pastels to other good brands? Do they crumble or get used up too fast?

Thanks!

Jen

Hi Jen
First of all, Stan is a great teacher if you want a good workshop to take. I do like his set. They are Terry Ludwig pastels which are wonderful ...soft square shaped that don't crumble. Thhe colors in Stan's set are perfect for the landscapes of the mid altlantic!
Good Luck!
