'Sanibel Beach Path' 5x7 pastelHere is another small painting I did on prepared gatorboard. This had an orange underpainting which you are able to see peeking through here and there. I am getting ready to start on two pet portrait commissions. One is a wolf mix dog and he is gorgeous! I hope I can do him justice. I also have my map out....getting bit by the travel bug again. It's never too soon to plan next summer's vacation and the early bird gets the worm...or in my case I was able to get a historic rim cabin with fireplace at the Grand Canyon! I am so excited about that. Now I have to plan an itinerary around that reservation!

I really like the orange underpainting and the looseness you are able to achieve with the texture on the gatorboard! Does painting directly on the gatorboard make it easier to frame?
The Grand Canyon, sounds so great..considering that the highest point of Finland is 1328 meters and the deepest ravine about 20 meters. So the Grand Canyon is something else :)
I like the effect on this painting. Forgive my ignorance, but can you please explain what is gatorboard? I can`t find a Finnish translation...

Thanks Debbie & Jane! Yes it is very easy to frame the gatorboard painting. Since it is already a firm surface you can truly just pop it right into the frame!
Jane, Gatorboard is a hard surface made of a layer of foam coated by a plastic of some sort. Do you know what foamcore board is? It is like that only more rigid. Hope this helps!
