A New Dragonfly Painting sold

'Blue Jewel' 7x5 pastel
Time for another dragonfly painting. I wanted to try my new pearlescent pastels. I had enough layers to be able to etch the veins on the wings. I want to try the same technique with some sea shells.

Wow. If I click the picture to enlarge it, I can see the sparkles! That's so cool! If it looks this good on my computer screen, I bet it looks even better in person.

I have numerous paintings by this artist and no one is more appealing, meticulously and beautifully accurate, as well as superb in general in her depictions of nature and its wonders, birds, cats, etc.! I literally laid in wait for the two dragonfly paintings of hers that I bought. I know approximately when new paintings are posted and I bought both of my dragonflies immediately. I was afraid that even by trying to buy them so quickly, I would miss out on them.

I especially like the veins that she has added to her dragonflies' wings. Few artists, I think, consider the wing veins of a dragonfly to be of much, if any, importance, since one cannot see them when a dragonfly is flying. However, if one is a dragonfly lover, as well as an art collector, those veins are very important!
