The Bluebird Nest

'The Bluebird Nest' 11x14 pastel
Sadly Jayne had a bluebird box that was abandoned this season. She thinks that perhaps a tree limb that fell nearby might have frightened them. Whatever the reason she discovered the nest and eggs when she cleaned out the box. I knew I wanted to take advantage of painting the pretty little eggs since it is rare that we get to see them.

great contrasts. The lighter shade of blue against the darker brown is obvious, but then think about the smooth shells against all the little sticks . . . the round shapes really set it off. Very well done!

Thank you Fawn! I love painting nests for just those reasons! I appreciate your comments.

OMG - this is beautiful! The colors, textures and the variations of each. I love nests! I have a small real tree limb mounted from one wall to the other near a corner in my computer/studio room (don't laugh) and resting in the fork of its limbs is a nest I found. ;-)

Karen,
Thank you! I love nests too and what a cool idea to have one in a branch inside! I would love that.

Great use of color. The warm against the cool always makes a great painting.
