'A Regal Cat' 8x10 pastelI pulled this painting out of a storage box the other day. I came across it while looking for something else. It had been misfiled. I painted it a year ago but I really like how it captures my cat Maya's look. Maya is a petite and delicate cat compared to her brother Tobi. He is a solid cat. Both of them are beautiful to me. I love my siameses!

Many years ago I studied with an artist who had two Siamese cats. They were beautiful and the most talkative animals who were very curious about everything. One day the artist was giving a demo to some of the students and one, the male, brought in a "little " gift that he selected from the great outdoors. He and his life live along a tributary of the Hudson River in Rockland County NY which probably provided fertile ground for hunting expeditions.

Beautiful painting, the colors you used for the "white" fur make it stunning. You are right Siamese are special.
