Who would have thought that one of our favorite spots in Sedona was the fish hatchery! Here we were in one of the most beautiful places in the world, surrounded by amazing scenery, and we loved the fish hatchery! How could this be? Shouldn't we be hiking among the red rocks? Or checking out the state parks? We did of course and they were beautiful. But the fish hatchery had a more subtle beauty.
It is actually on of the area's top birding spots and there is a nice nature trail with well placed benches. We spent a wonderful morning wandering the trails looking for birds around the ponds. I loved the quiet beauty of the place....the colorful grasses and wildflowers. The meandering pathways through the trees. The ponds filled with bullfrogs and dragonflies....all begged to be painted.
There is a lesson here. I love to travel and see new places. I love the spectacular and dramatic scenery. But the fish hatchery reminds me that we can also find beauty where we least expect it. There is beauty in the ordinary. We just ve to remember to look for it!
Today's painting is from the fish hatchery in Sedona
