Harbor Island Dunes

'Harbor Island Dunes' 9x12 Pastel

I was planning on painting some seagulls in the rain last night at pastel class....but Marsha wanted us to paint something that had strong areas of light and shadows. So thanks to Jayne's photo stash I was able to use her dune photo. This is from our trip to South Carolina and I remember how wonderful the shadows on the dunes were that morning. One thing Marsha felt I should do was try not to get too fussy with too many colors in the grasses. I guess I see so many colors and I want to put them all in there. But I tried another version at home so see my next post. (the post just before this one)
