Today's Painting..A Gatorboard Experiment

'Autumn Road' 8x10

Yesterday I bought some Gatorboard to make my own pastel supports. I cut four 8x10 pieces and coated them with pumice ground on 2 and acrylic ground for pastel on the other two. Today I tried to paint on one. This is the result. This is the board coated with pumice and stained purple. I didn't love working on it but I suppose I could get used to it. The brushstrokes of the pumice mixture show through and make it difficult to get details. This support would be good for certain subjects. Next I will try the acrylic ground to compare.
