Arches National Park

'The Magic Hour' 11x14 pastel

This summer we visited one of our favorite National parks...Arches in Moab, Utah. It was late afternoon and we had just finished a hike to Delicate Arch...a 3 mile hike on slickrock... and we were tired and hungry and looking forward to some pizza in town. As we drove out of the park, the sun was lighting the rock formations an they looked like they were on fire. I couldn't resist taking photos out the car window. This painting is based on these photos.
