Winter Creek

'Winter Creek 1' 5x7 pastel
I am experimenting with winter scenes. This one is on Wallis Belgium mist paper. I blocked in all the darks first then some blues under the snow in shadow. I then used fixative to lock in the darker colors and give an icy texture to the snow. I used pale yellow and peach for the sunlit snow. I didn't use white at all. Trying to capture the feeling of cold which works for me on this cold day in Georgia!

Karen,
love the way this painting captures the cold wintry feel of snow along the creek bank! The abstract composition makes it more than a winner!

The painting of Jazzpurr is awesome, too!!
