Oregon Coast Wildflowers

'Color for a Gray Day' 8x10 pastel
Several years ago we went on a 20 day trip around the Pacific Northwest. It was an awesome trip! I was going through some of my photos and this one called out to be painted. This is the view of Cannon Beach from Ecola State Park in Oregon. I remember it being a chilly gray July day but these flowers added a touch of color. I need to repeat that trip!

Beautiful work Karen! The gloomy days out here can sure be brightened up with a touch of color. You depicted that very well!

Last year I took so many photos from where you were standing...I just had to do one of my miniature pastels of that scene. Here's the link to that mini if you're interested.

I am so glad to have found your blog. I really like your painting style. Your color selection, even in this one, is fantastic. Well done!

Thanks David, I'm glad you saw this. I was thinking about my Pacific NW friends when I posted it. I love your mini! I need to do more of those.
