Assateague Island National Seashore Painting

'Blazing Marsh' 8x10 pastel
This was the salt marsh last Fall at Assateaugue Island. The colors on the marsh were amazing and even more vivid under an overcast sky. I believe the red is sumac but I'm not sure. It sure did make a statement! I will be doing more marsh paintings for two reasons....I am preparing for my September 20 mini workshop on painting the marshes. We are going to concentrate on simplifying the landscape. I am also gearing up for a workshop in South Carolina with Stan Sperlak. I want to be ready to paint the marshes of the Low Country!

When I'm silent and don't comment on your paintings it's because I just don't have the words, but I see and feel the beauty of every single one. This marsh painting and "First Encounter" compels me to remind you that you are my favorite artist and thank you so much for sharing the world you paint.

Thanks Roxanne. It's a great place to visit. We didn't get to paint because it was way too windy. I hope to go back though.
