A Few Shells...Shells of Sanibel Island

Each of these paintings measure 2.5 x 3.5 inches and are pastels
How about something warm to think about today? Something warm like walking on the beach looking for treasure....feeling the sun and hearing the warm water lap the shore. I will be doing that in a couple of weeks when I head to Sanibel Island, Florida for a workshop I am teaching on painting shell in pastel. There are some openings if you are interested. The workshop is Friday January 29th from 2-4 at the Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum on Sanibel.

My favorite shell is the Moon shell. I love the colors and the smoothness and I love finding one with a pretty blue 'eye'. Anne Morrow Lindbergh writes about the moon shell in her book "Gift from the Sea". This is a wonderful little book and is nice to read while sitting on a beach somewhere! OK....now back to my winter paintings brrrrrrrrr.

Karen enjoy your time in Sanibel! We used to go there every summer when I was a child (growing up in central FL). Sounds like a great place for a workshop!

The weather should be warmed up again by the time you get here. It's sure been cold lately.

I have been following your artwork for some time. I just love it. Do you trade your ATCs? I love your shell ATCs.

Hi Lisa,
Thank you so much! I do trade the ATC's. I did these shells to bring to my Sanibel workshop but I hope to do more. Feel free to email me kemstudios@yahoo.com
