Introducing 'ART BOOK FRIDAY' a book club for artists and art lovers

I have always wanted to be a part of a book club but never really had the opportunity to join one. So I thought, why not start my own and even better, why not host it on my blog and invite my blog followers to join if they wish. So here is your invitation and I would love it if you wish to join us. I will start with the first book and soon will have a list for us to vote on the next books. We will have a new book every month. For the first book we will have until the end of February. Every Friday I will post a question or book related topic for discussion and we can participate by commenting on the post. I have chosen 'THE ART SPIRIT' Robert Henri for the first book. It is a wonderful book which compiles the teachings and critiques of the painter Robert Henri. It is a book that every artist should have on their bookshelf and it is one that you can pick up and read over and over and find inspiration. I thought it would be a good way to start out the new year. If you don't have a copy of the book you can find a link to it on Amazon on the sidebar to the right. Here is some background on Robert Henri from Artcyclopedia. I hope you choose to read along with me and be sure to come back next Friday to check in!

There is a wierd synchronization going on. I just picked up the book Art Spirit yesterday at a flea market. Today you are starting a book club with it. How odd. I am going to have to wait to read it until I get the two books on my nightstand completed but I still find the coincidence intriguing. :)

I think that is a great idea. I have read the book but go back on occasion to re-read.

Hi Lisa,
That is a fun coincidence. I hope you'll stop by Friday to check in on our book club 'meeting'!
