It has been a cold and wet summer in Finland. The first two days of the workshop this pattern continued. We stayed inside. We worked hard though and many fine paintings were done. But Annika had ordered sunshine and happily it arrived on Day 3. It was time to take our pastels outside!
We began the day with a drive into Vaasa to the inner harbor area. The goal was to do some small and quick studies. Most of the artists in the group were new to plein air. You would never guess this by looking at their paintings!
We returned to the summer house after a nice lunch at the Strampen restaurant. After a couple of demos the group painted the wonderful views of the sea. It was great to be outside painting the view we had been looking at for the past two days. Tomorrow the plein air painting continues at a new location. Here are a few photos from day three.
