Trees in the Marsh

'Friendship' 5x7 pastel
Here is a little marsh painting I did on Ampersand Pastelbord. I am really enjoying working on this surface! I didn't like the first version so I brushed the whole thing out and started over. I only wish they weren't so heavy. I want to bring them on my painting trip but put several of these together and they are heavy!

I like this painting very much. The purple trees in the distant are wonderful. Have you tried the new Art Spectrum heavy sanded paper. I just got a couple of pieces, and it seems to be a good weight for traveling. It is much thicker than regular Colour Fix, but not as heavy as Ampersand board. The surface looks to be the same as Colour Fix regular, but I haven't worked it yet. That will come this weekend when I go to the Big Island for some plein air painting. I will let you know.

Karen, nice painting. Have you tried R-tis-tx? It is similar to Pastelbord and is lighter in weight. Different backing. I ordered by phone and because it was the first order they sent a couple of the other pieces for me to try. I've only used it for a couple of paintings, but liked it.
